 We received a delightful book form our friends at Chronicle Books called Charlotte in New York. The book is written by Joan MacPhail Knight and illustrated by Melissa Sweet. The story takes you back to 1894, where Charlotte (a very likable character) and her American family have been living in France. Her father is an artist and has learned a style of painting known as Impressionism. Charlotte's father's paintings are going to be in a show in New York so the family gets to go on an adventure to new York. Charlotte tells of their adventure in a fun and colorful journal. The illustrations really brighten up the story with Museum reproductions and amazing watercolor paintings.Children of all ages will just love this story! My son now wants to go off to New York! Maybe, someday....
